Our first campaign newsletter will discuss the purpose of “National Prevention Week” and introduce this year’s “Albion Week” activities and familiarize readers how to more effectively utilize the Michigan United Way “2-1-1” information and referral network.

This is a request to Opt-In and receive periodic prevention newsletters from the “Albion Task Force” Social Media Team.

The more people who sign up and receive our email newsletter and/or follow us on social media; the easier it will be to get the word out and become organized in addressing the issues and concerns of the day; to successfully impact our world locally and maximize the potential benefits for all who participate.

The task at hand for everyone is learning how to support, encourage, and promote the prevention message in all it’s forms and functions; to build health and wellness consciousness among all members of the community. Preventing chronic illness is our common goal. The path to accessing health-giving lifestyles and developing the awareness needed to sustain good health, is what’s behind this message. In the coming weeks we will discuss the beginnings of this transformation and what this means for the people of Greater Albion.

PREVENTION OF UNDERAGE DRINKING AND CONSUMPTION OF OTHER ILLEGAL DRUGS * non-medial use of Marijuana
PRESCRIPTION (RX) AND OVER-THE-COUNTER (OTC) DRUG ABUSE/MISUSE(non-medical use of medication)

Established in 2010, the Albion Community Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (ACSAPC) is a community-based Coalition developed to respond to community needs around substance abuse and its related consequences. Services are targeted to youth, adults, community organizations and businesses, as well as families.

WHAT WE DO

The Coalition does the following in order to identify substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery priorities and to determine effective substance abuse prevention strategies for the Greater Albion community:

Coordinates substance abuse prevention
Collects substance abuse prevention, recovery, and treatment data
Collaborates with prevention, recovery, and treatment organizations in the Greater Albion area & Calhoun County Michigan, to ensure that services are being provided
Creates policy

In order to carry out this work, the Coalition use the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) as the guiding process for our work.
