DEA TAKE BACK

The Drug Take Back event is on Saturday October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a national program by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Click here for more national information.

This event is sponsored locally by the "Coalition" and will be held at two locations. The first location is the Forks Senior Center, 1418 Cooper Street, Albion, Michigan. The second location is at the Sheridan Township Hall.

There will be a lock box at each location where you can safely dispose of your outdated prescription drugs or medications that you no longer need. The boxes will be removed later by law enforcement officers. It is important for the safety of your children and others to remove these items from your homes. It is not recommended to flush these items down the toilet.

Academic Achievement

Substance abuse issues affects academic achievement. In Michigan, year-to-year student achievement on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) provides an indication of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for each school district and school in the state. AYP is one of the cornerstones of the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. See how Albion students are keeping up with AYP and how the upper grades are having more difficulties.   Albion MEAP scores - pdf
